Neve Ziviya’s mission is to serve the unmet needs of Israelis facing economic, social or educational hardship. Neve Ziviya takes an active approach, seeking out needy individuals and communities for whom assistance is not available.

Neve Ziviya is active in large cities and small communities, in all areas of the country. In many of the more remote communities and settlements it serves, Neve Ziviya is the only charitable organization providing food, clothing and emotional support for destitute residents. Over the past few years, Neve Ziviya’s support has been especially critical to  and appreciated by  residents of Yesha, as both the security situation and the Israeli economy deteriorated.

Israel’s Hidden Needy

When Sara’s friend Rivka began coming to school every day with no lunch, Sara knew something was wrong. Rivka told Sara that her father had lost his job and Sara told her mother, who called Neve Ziviya.

Neve Ziviya workers found a desperate situation at Rivka’s house: No heat, food or warm clothing for the five young children. Within hours, Neve Ziviya arranged delivery of warm blankets, clothing, and weekly food baskets for Rivka’s family. Neve Ziviya staff helped Rivka’s father with his job search, networking among the organization’s many supporters and friends. In a short time, the family was warm, nourished and getting back on its feet, thanks to Neve Ziviya.

Neve Ziviya supports the silent poor who cannot survive on their own resources, yet don’t seek help from soup kitchens or food distribution centers. We are the address to which citizens and community leaders turn when they know a neighbor or acquaintance is at risk. With just one phone call, the plight of the poverty-stricken or hungry is eased... 

Neve Ziviya develops innovative, effective social and educational programs that build confidence and improve the long-term prospects of the participants. By locating the programs in remote communities,

Neve Ziviya runs on a shoestring budget, maintaining minimum overhead in order to do the most good for the largest number of clients.

Yeshiva High School

Sixteen-year-old David* is thriving in school – which is incredible. Before he found the Neve Ziviya Therapeutic Yeshiva High School, David was uncooperative and depressed, a “tough case” who had been asked to leave five different yeshivot over the previous two years.

Neve Ziviya teachers and staff offered him a warm haven and complete acceptance – and demanded the success they knew he could achieve. David now does his schoolwork eagerly and has a circle of supportive friends. Instead of turning to street gangs or drugs, David is planning his future: He hopes to study refrigeration engineering and be able to support himself and a family.

Until now, religious teenage boys who don’t fit the traditional yeshiva framework have been isolated at the fringes of their society - left without appropriate schools, social structures or paths for development. Neve Ziviya’s yeshiva high school enables students whose strengths do not lie in Talmud study to grown, succeed and assume their rightful place in the community.
